A welcoming, family friendly club, Woodbank Cricket Club caters for 130 members and has nine cricket teams playing competitively, with players aged five to 60+. Based in Bury, Greater Manchester, the club fields teams in the Greater Manchester Cricket League, including a 1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI and T20. There is also a thriving junior section, which trains on a Friday evening, and has teams in the U9, U11, U13, U15 and U18 age groups.

Players of all ages have enjoyed success at district, interleague and county level and many who have gone on to play for other clubs have returned to pull on a Woodbank shirt in later seasons. Once a Banker, always a Banker. However, it is more than a cricket club, providing a focal point for the community of Brandlesholme and the wider Bury area.

About Us

Established in 1935, the club has grown to provide not just the opportunity to play cricket but a venue for other groups to meet. Between April and September, Woodbank’s ground, The Kenyons, is used every day for cricket training or matches but, all year round, it is used by community groups – from a drama group to a rounders team, Bury Hospice and local schools.

The Woodbank Darts and Dominoes Team, which draws in players from the club and local community, meets weekly and competes in the Woolfold League. As well as being available to book for private functions, from weddings and baptisms to funerals and birthday parties, the club also hosts its own events. These include its popular bonfire, which attracts more than 4,000 people, to Christmas parties, quiz nights, live music events and other social gatherings. The close-knit club could not function with a dedicated committee of volunteers, who give up their time tirelessly to run the facilities and operate its competitive teams all year round.
